Well, recently I decided to give my old build thread the axe. It was quite large, jumbled around a lot and honestly didn't want a thread with 250,000+ views and 1000s of posts. Killed the thread, went out of town for a while and now it is time for a sweetened condensed version. Love me or hate me, put it in your pipe and smoke it.
Keeping things short and simple, here are a few pictures of how the truck started and where it is now. For all you guys asking questions about running an MDT and of that sorts, this is how carried away you can get.
The truck started life as a lumber truck, a rough, old, slow lumber truck.
540,000 miles, 5.9 cummins, 6spd non OD, air brakes
Version 1.0
Crude, simple, but did the job.
Purchased a brand new 2012 24ft stock trailer to pull with it also.
Me and my wife ended up spending approx. 8 months on the road with this setup. Went out west, down south, and in between with it. Put around 20,000miles on the truck like this. It is primer in this picture but it was eventually painted black.
Version 2.0
The first camper we bought was old and tired, lacked a lot of things including running water, toilet, etc. Picked up a 2011 Travel Lite 1000slrx Ultra, 9ft slide fully loaded with all the bells and whistles.
Scrapped the flat/dump bed in favor of an 8ft service bed and short flat bed.
