Forget about the bumper...what about the softtop!!!!!

EDIT: Actually something that would have been cool to do would have been to make a custom drum for the winch, make those winch supports about 6 inches farther apart and get a custom fairlead. I've seen pics of those Aussies doing that onthe 8274. Looks nice though. I like the new paint.

bumper

Mike - Seen that drum mod, with the tie bars and the works. Seems like a LOT more work and expense than just carying an extension. Plus how often do you need more than 150 feet of cable? Top is still sad, but I made a new section from a nylon tarp and a speedy stitcher, also put nicer door tops on and replaced those bars around the doors with the original rain gutters. It keeps the rain off really well. 3000 miles on it and its holding up. Plus the tarp is classy. Planning to splurge on a real top sometime in the near future.

Not any more! The road can now be driven in just about anything other than the Liberty I had to pull out last time I was there (over Thanksgiving). Since the county closed the other road, traffic has increased hugely-per the locals.

I dipped the bumper I made for my girfriends truck (which is down right now for the ENV swap) and her koenig mount and another 8274 bumper for a friend with an 86 inch. The local place is run by nice folks, and the finish isnt bad but I wish they had a dry tank istead of a wet tank. Still interested in those rims?

The softop has been reinforced with one of those silver contractor tarps, sewn on with a speedy sticher awl. Also installed the correct raingutters so its much more weather-tight. And the tarp is classy. Plan on splurging on a new one in a few months. Will keep you posted on the donkey rover.
