Finally looking at getting some selectable lockers for the jeep cj7 project that was started years ago and a couple of years ago I really liked the idea of the ox lockers.

Lately haven't heard much about them, are they still in business? did they get a bad rap? What's the skiny on them?

How do the other brands stack up, arb's, electric lockers?

Thanks,

Specs if matters.

79 cj, yj frame, d44 f&r, 350, sm465, d300, 35" procomps, yada yada yada

We just got done fixing a set of them at my shop, and for the money you can get ARB's. The problem with the OX lockers is they are ran off of a cable that push's a C clap over when it locks inside of the diff. It works just like the cable lock replacement for YJ's and some XJ's in the front axle. I would say stay away from them, not only do they not always lock but when they do break its hard to find a shop that will put them in for ya or fix them.

Just my 02 cents

The idea of having no wires or having an air compressor is the thing that turned me on to the ox lockers. It's all manual and I know it is engaged.

But, I do plan on having a york compressor so it doesn't seem that difficult to regulate the air pressure to run the arbs if I go that route.

I may be on crack, but I could have sworn I read in one of my off-road rags lately that Ox was out of business....

I talked to the owner of OxTrax a few weeks ago. He admitted that the company has had it's problems, but they are still in business. In fact, they were heading out over the weekend to test some new applications. He said they only sell the lockers to 4WP Warehouse if that helps. I tried to tell him that these kinds of rumors are what happens when you operate a business in a vacuum; I wanted to give him a forum to speak to the public about what's going on. But he is happy just selling a few units to 4WPW.

Personally, I would buy from a manufacturer that isn't so mysterious and publicly supports our sport.
