i don't have it sitting in front of me, i'm considering buying it.

is this a d50 or a d60?

it has a 13mm flange and a 3.73 ratio.

anybody know for sure?

If you pop the diff cover off it will be very obvious. The ring gear on the 50 is only slightly bigger than a 44's while the 60's is over 9' in diameter ....9 1/2", 9 3/4"? hell, now I can't remember but, it should be very obvious.........Hans

2002 and later, the same model year applies to the damn PMR's. So you get the better front diff but sacrifice for a weaker engine.

And No Excursions have 60's........

I met up with a few of my friends that wrench for a living last night. We all have PSD F350's or Excursions. I brought this subject up in conversation. Late 02 was when the D60 came out in all of them. The SD D50 is not the same as the TTB D50 of the OBS trucks. The SD D50 is an exclusive axle for all SD trucks and Excursions. For all practical purposes its a D60 with D50 steering knuckles and stub shafts. The SD D50 uses D60 center section, Gears, U-joint, and axles up to the stub shafts. I'll bet this is why Ford stopped making the D50 due to it was so similar to the D60, and why make another axle when the D60 will work with no modifications.

you got it a little backwards there...the solid d50 has the same gears as the ttb d50,axles neck down to 30 spline, but the outers,u-joints,knuckles and hubs are all same as d60.the housing is externally the same as the d60 casting but machined differently to fit the smaller gears.they look a little lost in that big cavern.
