FOB is Freight On Board. Basically, that's the price if you pick it up at Kenosha, WI...they'll charge you more if they have to ship it to you.

Sounds just a bit high...have you checked out a Big Tex?...if for no other reason than to get a baseline price for what is regarded as a well-built trailer.

I think that is what they wanted around here for one with a steel deck. I got a Big Tex one for $2800 (I think) with 5000 lb axles. The brakes on both axles are the way to go for sure!! Sounds about right for one around here with a good frame on it though.

I paid $2300 for a brand new 20+2, all metal, 14k GTWR (2x 7k axles). 2-5/16" coupler. slide in ramps, yada yada.

I know regional prices vary... But that is WAY high for my area. For 1700 I could have gotten what you quoted WITH steel deck rather than wood.

Big-Tex is an assembly line manufactured peice of chit, just like 80% of the trailers out there. They pump out quantity, not quality.

My 2000 Big Tex 70DM has given me 0 problems. It's tubing construction too which is more expensive but stronger than any of the trailers described in this thread so far.

seems high to me, I just bought an 18' like you describe but with cheaper axles, a few years old for under $1000
Tolly is in OK...If I bought the same NEW trailer...length, brakes on both axles, bulldog hitch, wraparound fenders, brake-away kit, undercoated, matching spare tire, spare holder, jack, new tires, etc...in either OK or TX...it would have been $400 less from the SAME manufacturer...for the SAME model trailer. Being in WI, you might want to call dealers down south and take the drive.

I would have, but from California the gas cost would have been a wash.

I bought a new AZTEX from the dealer with the same features you mention minus brakes on one axle for $1300-$1350 a few years ago. I've noticed that trailer prices are going up though (most likely with the cost of steel).

trailer prices have gone up over the past couple of months, so please don't compare prices to people that bought a trailer a couple of years ago ;)

BTW: nothing wrong with a wooden deck ... :p

Last November I paid about $2,000 for the same set up as yours (BigTex 70CH) 18' brand new http://www.bigtextrailers.com/spec/70ch.html and had the 2" coupler replaced with a 2 5/16" to go with the WDH.

Before buying a used steeldeck last month, I was ready to purchase a PJ 18'+2' w/3x5 boxed channel frame and modular wheels....otherwise same specs....for $2180 out the door from Roots RV in Mitchell, IN.

Try these guys they make a great trailer. At a good price.
