I have a 4 bolt pattern 4l60e and am thinking of other options for a t-case. What model 241's with passenger side drop will bolt up? any with a fixed rear yoke? I suppose i will have to address the output shaft also, and the vss as i have to have a signal for the computer. thanks!

That's the older 4L60E, I think and has the one piece bell housing. Using an stock adapter a NP241 will work but it's a slip yoke and you have to buy a SLE aftermarket kit for it!

The 90-91 K5 & Suburban use the pass-drop NP241 with VSS like u2slow said. But what engine is it for? You may have to change the VSS pick up ring for it to work.

The input shaft for the 241 will be 27 spline for the 700R4 (4L60) that's what you need. As for the 4L60E you of course need the short 4x4 27 spline shaft!

i've heard that some of the 89-91 K5s had that t-case in them as well. i have 2 of them at my place, one with a vss and one with the mechanical speedo, both passenger drop.

none ever came with a bolt on rear yoke, but you can combine a gm and a dodge 241 to set up your own rear slip yoke eliminator. i'm pretty sure that all the dodge 241s came with the bolt on rear yoke.

otherwise, there are a couple of aftermarket SYE kits available and they're fairly easy to install. i have done a couple of them.

hate to bring this up from the dead but..

my buddys buildin a 95 s10 blazer 4wd. on gm dana 60 and 70s, passenger drop.
its got a 4l60-e i think with the vss. so he needs a pass. drop tcase and as far as i can tell the only bolt up case is a np241 and its gotta be outta a 90-91 suburban for the vss, correct?
And it still needs some modifyin to make it work plus an sye kit, not to mention its chain drive. are there any other options out there for him that dont require a $300+ adapter?

The 4L60/4L60E and NP241 were offered by the factory for many years. K5's and Burbs had a passenger drop version from '89-'91, but in general the '89 version was a mechanical speedo while the other 2 years were VSS. From '88 through the '90's or so this was the combo offered in most of the 1500 and light duty 2500 series GM pickups, but they were driver side drop.

Basically, I don't see any issue with bolting up a GM version NP241 to a 4L60 with the right combination of factory parts. The biggest difference I know of was the 32 spline version 241 found behind the TH400/4L80E's.

Factory version were all the slip yoke style but you can get SYE's and they are easy to install. These also seem to hold up pretty well as long as you don't bash the aluminum case against a rock.

so your saying the if i get a 90-91 passenger drop np241 it should bolt right up and have the vss? cuz that would be tits, keep in mind its vortec 4.3 fi with an auto w/o the vss it would only shift to P and N. thats what ive heard

Oh yeah abig bout the 208, if we go that route its bolt up to a 4l60-e?
but we'd probly have to drill and tape the tail housing for the vss, assuming it even has the tone ring, or wat ever the fuk its called.
alright been wheelin, well crawlin an drinkin im out. :smokin:

Yes with the stock round transfercase adapter and the correct 27 spline 241 it will bolt right up. The 1995 4l60e will need the VSS to shift the trans and the earlier 241's w/VSS work just as well.

Then get a SYE if you even need one.
