It depends on the axle. Your axles Sceep are the same boxes as the U1300L. The earlier disc 416's use a different box that won't work due to the caliper mounting tabs being different. Also the drum 416's and 406's use yet another box that won't work. Some bending and grinding would probably make them work but not sure. I'm getting 2 sets of these arms for my axles too :smokin: Also the 419's from the SEE tractors use the 1300L box as well.

So will these work on my 416 drum portals , that have converted to a disc setup???:D

Drum and disc brake portals share the same inner parts! Drum brake 406-416 where build until end of production of those mogs. The difference in the 406-416 and U1300L portals are the bearing dia and width(Caliper tabs are the same), the last 406 and 416s used the same portal as the U1300L (not U1300). But the U1300L used alo different versions (bearings-upper portal gear).
Exterior dimensions on the disc brake portals are the same on the 406,416,417,419,U1000,U1200,U1300L. The U1300 (425) has an totaly different portal box- axle.

you seem to be more knowlegable then most in this area. From the pictures, is it your understanding the axles I have were from a u1300L since they are the same as sceep? What is the difference between the u1300 and u1300l portals?

U1300's are a larger vehicle with larger axles. I think there 10 lug... The U1300L is the smaller vehicle that's roughly the same as the 406/416/etc. Just newer versions.
Would that be a 1300 Light then?? :p

The U1300L is bigger than the 416. You can compare the newer 418 with an 416. The smallest of the bigger mogs was the U1000, but its still way bigger than the 416. Since the mid 90s there is no small Mog anymore like the 406-416.

I finally got all my MB tech manuals on the different models of mogs and the U1300 vs. 1300L is definately not just wheelbase. Everything on the 1300 is bigger, the axles are bloody huge. But, they don't say what the L stands for :p

Finaly someone figured out that an U1300 axle is way bigger than an U1300L axle. The U1300 is an type 425 and the U1300L is an type 435. The L stands for long rear overhang and that this Mog is an Off Road Version! The L has nothing to do with the wheelbase!

This is borrowed from RMM web site:

The "L" in the model number in all Unimogs stands for longer frame. The additional length is all behind the rear axle. In the case of the two 1650's it's a 376 mm difference. The "standard" or short frame models are designed to be used with a full range of rear implements and such as PTO's and three point hitches, backhoes, etc. The longer frame models are designed for installation of fixed bodies and are not available with Rear PTO's, three point hitches, nor suitable for heavy rear mounted implements. A lot of people assume the "L" is an abbreviation for LKW or Lorry? Nope, it simply is the first letter of "lang", the German word for long.

There is some variation in how MB used the designation. For instance instead of the model U1700 L/38, they had, for a time, a model called "U 1700 LL" meaning long frame and longer wheelbase. They finally standardized on the current convention of all "L" models are wheelbase of 3250 mm except when designated with "/37, /38, etc.." (Of course they had to violate their own system when they built a few long wheelbase models with short frames.) Thus you have such as a "U2150 /38". Look Ma. No "L"

The U1650 is as an Arbeitsmaschine ( work truck) and the U1650L is sold an Hochgelandegangig (high mobility offroad). Only the Off Road versions are having the long rear overhang, so the L is for long rear overhang- off road.
The U1600 is the short wheelbase version of the U1650. But there is no U1600L. On the 437 type mogs there is an number (37 or 38) that designates extra long wheelbases. Example, U2100 (short wb) U2150 (long wb) U2150L (long wb,long rear overhang off road) U2150L/38 (lextra long wheelbase, rear overhang, off road.

my bad guys... i knew the "L" stood for "long" but i forgot that it was talkin bout the frame instead of wb ha ha... any pics of the u1300L's under a rig?? anyone??? (mine are in a thousand pieces right now ha ha )
