How are you going to prevent the heims from rolling or twisting, similar to hydro assist with TRE's? I know that with TRE's, you can position them a certain way which stops the tie rod from rolling. I had this issue and my ram, which wasnt perfectly parallel. I am just curious because it looks like you will have a new gear oil filler hole if the ram gets out of line....

It's going to turn 3/16" of an inch at the very most and I know what you are refering too--I have fixed a couple rigs now that wanted to rotate the tie rod more that push it. Its not 100% where I like it but I had to compromize a tad without affecting its performance,,,

From the looks of it, the rear also is missing a diff guard. Run into one rock or tree stump, and you can kiss the gears good bye.

I know if it was my rig, it wouldn't last but one or two trips out before I pooked a hole in one of the diffs.

Lookin Great... I will be stealing all sorts of Ideas from your build for my Samurai this winter

Its not a typical problem in this area bashing the housings. if it becomes a problem then--I wil just have to talk him into 60's :D

Ok so I ran into town today and loaded up on another batch of parts..

So I got the pins done on the ram ends. I typicly weld a 5/8" washer to one side and I drill a hole down the center on the other side and tap if for a 3/8 bolt. And here is how it looks(the flat spot is so the pin can be removed with the tie rod on)

So I got the hydro lines today and more 3/8 hose to finish off the steering..

So with all the hoses/lines done I filled the system and cycled it back and forth to get the air out--then ran the engine and not a peep out of the pump.

So I started working on something else and after about a 1/2 hour I noticed this

Image

Now as anybody knows its not uncommon to have a small leak at a fitting--well that wasn't the case..

Image

The leak is coming from a pinhole where the end cap is welded on behind the mounting bracket--so jack wil need to make a call and have them send a new one..

Well the wiring from the firewall forward is now 100% complete.

The only things left on the motor to do is--mount the air muffler/filter assembly. Install the accel cable once I get it. Weld a bung into the header pipe for the o2 sensor and run a couple vacuum lines..

WOW

This build turned out extremly nice. I hope the wiring job on my 4.3 comes out half this nice. That build will be coming soon:smokin:

Again nice work Crash:beer::beer:

Does the factory run a heat shield on the header? I am wondering about the rubber radiator hose right next to the heat.

Just trying to help....
Scott
The hose is a couple inch's away--and not sure if there was a shield on there stock--thats how we got the motor. But unlike a stock rig there will be no heat buildup due to an enclosed engine bay--so it "should" be ok but thats--will certianly keep an eye on it...

Right awn--great choice of a motor--and remember--take your time ;)

Well I took the stock exhaust flange and cut the pipe off right where it necks down. I then welded a short piece from that and pointed it right against the motor. I then took and cut off the exhaust bung and welded that to the new piping. The person we got the motor from had cut the o2 sensor wires for some dumb reason--so I had to fix that and decided to wrap it in heat tape to be on the safe side.

I also went and filled all the gear boxes and diffs with oil--so thats done...

I also installed the air cleaner but looks like we will need to add an elbo due to it looks like its going to hit the hood--but won't know till thats done being painted....

So I also have completed the rock lights...

Here is how I like to mount them--on a common braket tucked up in the rig..

So since I got the clutch bled and adjusted and there was a large oil mess on the floor from the leaky p/s cooler and brake fluid--I figured I would see if this thing would move on its own and backed it out(at which time the passenger front spring slid off the frame) and it happen to be sunny..

So I decided to go ahead and figure out the front shackles--and got the hold lopped thru the frame...
