Nice job. I must say I am the son of a Woodshop teacher. Our school had done away with auto tech right before I got there. It's a shame they are doing away with it. Great job I wish I could have done this in high school.

Did I say true 4 link? I meant true long arm. Sorry. I see many doing radius arm long setups and I really don't like them. A failure can really screw you on the trail. It does use a track bar.

The BDS kit has these slick control arm skid plates. Really stiffen up the mounts and protect the ends.

They are weld on.

Cool pic, is this bad for the camera? :)

Not trying to be a d... but why is this kid not using the welding helmet? Looks to me like its on his head but its not down enough for him to look out of it.
Cant really tell in the second pic but it looks like hes not in that one either.

Little trimming getting ready for the front bumper

The t-case skid since someone asked about it.

Sat it on the ground. Still have lots to do. Brakes, shocks, track bar....lots. Wanted to see how high it was going to sit. Tossed some tires in the back for weight.

Didn't get a whole lot done this day. Friday is usually when we get most of the work done because it is open shop day and that's when kids bring all their cars in to do whatever...and anyone that wants to work on the Jeep can. Today was a test day so they were busy most of the time taking an electrical exam.

We did get some done, but much that isn't really picture worthy. New (used) AC clutch, bled the brakes, hooked up the front drive shaft, installed the exhaust pipe off the header, did some sanding. Mostly small stuff because there were a bunch of vehicles in the shop needing attention.

This got done....

Image

And the kids found out what happens when you sea foam an engine and forget to turn on the exhaust fan. They had the hose hooked up, just didn't turn the fan on. It was 100 times worse than this at the worst....had all the ventilation going before I took this. I was waiting for someone to pull the fire alarm.

hahahah. No different here. customers, including students and me pay for all the parts. No labor though, it's against the law for us to charge labor.

That is awesome seeing those little kids working on the Jeep! Especially the little guy cutting the fender.....looks like he did a pretty good job!:D

Fricken 8th grader. Some of hardest working kids I have ever had. Every morning he walks in and say "What can I cut today."

He loves the air saw. LOL

Well today half the schools were closed so we had some down time and we set the Jeep down to do a little flex text to see how much room we had for shocks, make sure the brake lines were good, check fender clearance and what not.

Image

Brake line is a banjo string but the spring is also off it's mount. Looks like limiting straps will be going in. Man the BDS lift flexes like crazy in the front.

Image

Image

Gonna need to do a little more cutting in the front.

Image

I hope the rear springs break in a bit. I bet this changes when we get all the weight in it. There is NOTHING inside the Cherokee right now.

Image

Image

While it was there, took a pic of the locally made driveshaft. Actually it's a lengthened Ann Arbor Driveshafts driveshaft....when Evil-E was still working there and the place wasn't a worthless.

Image

A look at the arms...

Image

Did a little more cutting to the front. Have to test again to see if we went far enough.

Looks great man.

I am sure the rear will work in and loosin up allowing for more flex, but it all depends on the springs. It took a few months and long wheelin trips to get my RE springs to start flexing really well

keep up the good work :smokin:

Yea, every set of leaves I have had took a little bit to free them up. It's odd, the leaves seen soft when you bounce the thing.

But like I said, there is nothing inside...and I mean nothing. Not even a headliner in those pics. So you add all the seats, interior trim, a 35 inch spare, toolbox and spare parts, spare fluids, cooler, full roll cage....

Gotta soften up a bit.

Couple of misc pics....

Got the rear shocks mounted. New heavy duty diff cover should be here tomorrow.

Image

Shot of the t-case skid. Just hanging there right now...not fully installed.

Image

Someone asked about exhaust clearance....the crossmember is notched for that.

Image

Gonna have to bend this pipe to make it all line up. I don't remember what rig this pipe came from.
