Still plugging away at the rear. mocked up the air tank, and it looked like the uppers might hit it on articulation, so I did this sillyness. Obviously this is way more twist than is possible in real life, and it clears fine.

Air tank mount.

I guess the fuel cell frame needs a bit more support. I'll throw a couple more pieces of 1" at it tomorrow. The battery frame should be OK. There will be a full weld along one of the long sides, and the opposite corner will be welded to the suspension mount.

winch mount is tacked. Just fits behind the passenger seat when the seat is slid all the way back. You can see the cable routing if you strain your eyes a bit. A pulley or [more likely] a forged eye bolt will replace the clamp. The winch hook will be connected to the shackle on the axle, which is also the rear recovery point.

A bit more progress today.

Decided to route the mini-winch cable this way. This is a 1/2" forged eye bolt that is partially recessed and welded to the tubing. The cable will be attached to a pin gouing through a couple of tabs on top of the truss instead of the big shackle. Decided I don't want that thing banging around there all day long. This car is noisy enough as it is. Cut off about half the wire rope on the mini winch.

started working on the cargo area. There will be a small compartment here with a removable top. the cooler will sit on top of that. gave myself a nice cut with a sharp piece of expanded steel. excellent.

cargo area and cooler rack are done. the cover for the cargo area/floor of the cooler rack is located with 4 dowels made from 3/8 allthread. I think I'll need to get wingnuts on there to keep it from rattling, although it will stay put without them as long as the cooler is in place and secured.

More storage... here's a flat deck made from expanded steel, almost 5sq. feet worth. Can be used to lash down a backpack, spare driveshafts, highlift jack, misbehaving children... whatever.

tail light mounts. Not my first choice of mounting locations (they didn't fit where I originally wanted to put them) but at least here they double as gussets for the cage :D

it "sucks up" the rear suspension and basically pre-compresses the rear or front suspension which aids in stability specifically for steep climbs. it is kind of the "fix" for "flex". kind of a cheating way to lower your ride height temporarily.

Also, on the front it lessens the "unloading".
By compressing the front suspension it cuts down on weight transfer to the rear of the vehicle.

i use one in the front. my anti-squat was so bad with my rear link geo that i was breaking chain limit straps. but i have fixed that geometry since, and now i may be able to successfully put in a rear suckdown
