I don"t

TT truck teams with millions of dollars in R&D and factory engineering support have tried to make long travel front drive work.... FAIL !!

but I will not put it past the ingenuity of Jon and AJ to figure out what the big dollar teams couldn't ... they are talented and clever

I am not being specfic on what i liked about the travel...But there are a couple on here that have similar setups that everyone has been praising as KOH favorites by some....Not saying all but some.... There rigs work great...

I show on the couple i looked up having well over 20" front travel?
I am often wrong so just posting what i found...

This model has 24" front

This is also why i typed i am intrested to see how "they make it work all around".... Key work ALL AROUND...

My axles have been something that I have been going back and forth with. I have a really badass pair of Diamond Axles and all the parts to go with them. The unfortunate part is that I have to run High Pinions due to my suspension set up and my builder doesn't want to work with True Hi 9's. It's crazy how he will not work with the company in any way shape or form.
Wow that sucks for Diamond Axle. :(

Rich, I say go with the TrueHi9s and talk to the fabricator. What good is the rig to the fabricator if the HP60s in the rig are broken and the rig is on the side of the course broken? HP60s are notorious for weak R&Ps compared to 9" R&Ps.

You have seen my driving style and I have ZERO TrueHi9 failures, even after the tumble at nationals that bent my front axle housing, twisted three shafts, and broke just about every front end part, the TrueHi9 lived (and so did the Spidertrax knuckles!).

Talk it through, the TrueHi9 in the end is the best fit for what you both are trying to accomplish, a bad ass competitive rig that is RELIABLE!

that TT does not have a front drive axle. all 2wd TT have 24"+ inches of travel

have not seen a solid front axle rig make 24" work yet

There's also a first for everything :flipoff2: They may not get use from all 24", but hell that's what trial and error is for.

I believe in them!

Lil are you going to brace the tubing that these links mount to?

I am not nagging or knocking how this is done. My new buggy is the same way and I would like to know if you guys feel that it needs some bracing or not? If you are not what size and type of material is this? Great build by the way.

Yes it needs bracing and I am sure John will.

All the force of the links will be pushing on that one tube. Ask JR (Kirby) about forgetting to brace that bar

No they are not that bad. :D

Tim is a douche bag. Hi9 is just an ass clown.

regardless I would not ...check that...I also chose to not do business with them based on my conversations with the owner

My conversations were as follows

Camo: give me parts for advertising

Hi9: we have spent our advertising money for the year so we cannot afford to trade

Camo: some smart ass remark about how we can't run a business very well since we can't afford to give parts away

Customer service issues are that we don't warranty broken ring and pinions. The thing is we have never made a sale and probably lost sales by being up front and telling people we will not warranty broken ring and pinions.

I believe our way is better IMO customer servicewise than promising a warranty and then not having parts and stock when someone needs them.

Has anybody ever ordered a Hi9 and not had it when they were told they would have it?

Hopefully this post doesn't get deleted as many others have been.

Thanks guys :):):)

I thought he was trying to build a 'promotional vehicle.' Based on what I read, this is about showing off parts and relationships, and modelling rule compliance. Dunno about being competive -- the goal may be to show up and show off... trying to be competive is generally pretty tough on the equipment.

I hope to see this on Rubicon or at Prairie City. As long as you're careful with it, you can probably still play with it in regional stuff and keep it pretty enough to do 'promote' with. Looks like some pretty cool parts!

Little Rich, is this gonna be substantially narrower in back like you talked about a few years back?

The rear axle is only 2 inches shorter in the rear than the front. The back end of the chassis however is much narrower, similar to a trophy truck, so that we can get the most out of our up travel. With the door bar wrapped around to the "Tail Gate", we would need to limit the up travel by 2-4 inches with our 40" Maxxis Tires.

It is a Promotional vehicle but we will also be doing testing on the vehicle in different applications as it pertains to rules and racing and such. In the future, we will use the vehicle as a test bed for our partners products, so they can aquire knowledge and such about their product...

Lil', I just replaced my rear Solid HP 60 with a Spider9 and TrueHi Mega9 to reduce weight in my Stock Mod rig. I sold the axle to a fellow wheeler and when he popped the cover there were 5 teeth missing from the ring gear. This axle ran 4 regular season WEROCK events and the All Stock Nationals with 35" Maxxis Creepys. Now granted I do have a Chevy 5.3 that has been tuned with headers and I'm kinda fond of the skinny pedal when needed.

My previous rig had a low pinion semifloat 60 running 39.5" IROKs and a Dodge 5.2 tuned with headers and I beat the crap out of that rig for 2 years wheeling in the Southeast. It was also a lot heavier rig.

My point is, I don't know that a HP 60 will hold up to the abuse and tire size you will be running.

This subject got beat to death in the Jimmys buggy build thread. If he cant put something on the buggy he cant get for free so be it. I would be pissed to if somebody wouldnt give me what I wanted for free.

I had a yellow star until I was rudely responded to for not sponsoring your guys rig.

I only have limited pm space now or I'd find the response I'm referring to.
 I have unlimted PM space. If this is a rude responce, fawk me in the ass with a watermelon...

Hi Guys...

I know you guys are pretty tight with your stuff, but I'm thinking maybe it's time we get you some banner ads. And what better way to get on board than to swap dollar for dollar value on some hardware?

I am gathering parts for a no-holds barred buildup of a 4 seater LS2 powered FJ40 project. The rig will of course be built before everyone's eyes on Pirate4x4 with an official story (similar to the buildup we did on Jason Scherer's Campbell rig - but this one won't be "live" per se).

I'd like to propose a horse trade of 6 months of banners on Pirate4x4 in exchage for a front and rear differential, and include you in our buildup feature.

Please let me know if you are interested in this ASAP either way, as we need to move forward in the planning stages of the vehicle.

Thanks!

Your reply:

I will talk with the money guy and see what he thinks.

Also, who'd supply the Detroits/ARBs/spools

Thanks
My reply:

Wow, that was a quick reply! Thanks!

I would get one of our other advertisers to supply that stuff
Your reply:
It sounds like we will not be able to do a trade.

Thanks for the opportunity.
My reply:

That's unfortunate. It was an inexpensive way to get some great coverage and get some banners on the largest off road media outlet in the world. If you ever decide you would like to get on the map with the big boys, check out our rate card and give us a call.

Thanks for the quick reply!
Anyhow, back to Rich's build.

That is not at all the response I was referring to. I made an error, after thinking about it longer it was earlier when someone wanted me to buy advertising space after you guys did a Spidertrax axle build and I declined. Sorry about the confusion. I'm also not sure if it was Lance or Camo since I cannot go back that far with the pm space I have.

p.s. This b.s. was egged on by Camo, have I ever done him wrong, if so, how? Or, what conversations did he have with me that he is referring to?
