Last May, after spending five years building comp buggies at the Badlands and Shaffer's Offroad I left the offroad industry and took a position at Torchmate CNC Cutting Systems. I've always loved fabricating, and I knew I wanted to continue to build buggies. I tossed around the idea of building a buggy for someone else, and I talked to a few people who were interested. Unfortunately for them, when I was selected for the '09 King of the Hammers race I decided that the next buggy I built would be for myself.
Bill Kunz (Torchmate CEO) agreed to let me build the buggy in the Torchmate shop to help promote their CNC plasma tables. Although the shop doesn't have nearly as many metal working tools as some shops, the CNC plasma table makes up for the lack of equipment. Many of the components on the buggy were specifically designed to show off the capabilities of the machine.
Now on to the buggy.
