Hello all, I just crossed over. I sold my 74 K5 and bought an 04 wrangler. Man, do I love it!!! Anyway, I am trying to find a cold air intake setup for her. Either a AEM, K&N, or equvilent. Unfortunately everthing seems to stop a year or two before the 04's. Anyone know where I can find one? Thanks and have a god one my friends!

Cold air like the rice-boy-take-out-a-headlight-to-get-more-flow sorta cold air, or just an intake? I'm not sure I'd want a cold air intake, since it sounds quite a lot like a cold water/mud intake.

If you're just looking for a bigger intake, I'd check turbo city or somthing like that.

Wow such animosity......Over a K&N filter???

Wow, never encountered such negative vibes over asking about a nice K&N setup. Since when has that become a "ricer" deal? Last I checked just about every nice hotrod setup has one. Maybe you guys have been hanging out on the type "R" website too long. Sounds like I need to explain to you what a cold air intake is? You know the nice chrome pipe that connects to a K&N cone air filter. Usually it will have a heat shield as well. Bolt right into the stock air filter box place. I must admit. This ricer crap is getting out of hand. If any of you are educated about the way engines breath you would know the having a nice cold air setup and high flow exhaust will make your ride run more efficiently than the lame ass stock lets'choke-the-fuc-outta-my-engine snorkle and air cleaner. :flipoff2:

Moved???

Not a newbie and not fearfull of being flamed so why was I moved here? Just because a few assholes don't know anything about how an engine breathes? Oh well, thought there were folks here who actually knew about engines and performance. No worries, I know good sights with knowledgable folks. I guess you guys are the next group of type "R" wannabe's!! :flipoff2:

Could you be any more clueless? It defies logic.

From my experience, K&N filters do worse than most stock paper filters. Not good on a dusty trail.

There is no performance gain from this modification. Feel free to prove people wrong with a few pulls on the dyno.

What's an extra $100 bucks for the dyno if your willing to spend $200-$300 on an air filter.

matty.. get off the high horse..

as to the air filter that was asked about.. I wouldent use it.. I go places that have way too much dust and it would choke it down in 20 min.. I would have to replace it each time..
cant see that.. the stock filter.. I change about every month as it is..

Those intakes are cool and stuff for mild trailriding/ mostly street driving. They don't do so well in water, dust, and mud. If the terrain you wheel in has alot of those three things, I would look at something different like an ARB snorkel or something. Atleast with a snorkel you can use the factory filter, or swap the factory filter with a drop in K&N. Sorkels are kinda like cold air too; but just don't get caught at the mall with it! :flipoff2:

Thanks

Thanks, I see the difference between street machines (as I am used to) and offroad use regarding the dirt, dust, etc. Sounds like using the basic drop-in for the stock box is the way to go. I saw the snorkel setup and don't think that is for me. My ride is also going to become my primary vehicle. I'm selling one of my camaros to buy a really nice fishing boat. Thanks again and have a good one. Oh yeah, MattyL13 how about a big :flipoff2: :flipoff2: to you. You should check yourself. I didn't violate anything regarding posting in any section etc. I had a jeep question that was posted in the jeep section. Luckily some adults began reading the post and were nice enough to answer the question and give some very good explanations as to why this setup won't work so good for off-raod use. You are one of those simple minded folks that don't play well with others. No worries though, there are many folks out there like you that everyone has to tolerate. No skin off my back. Just grow up a bit. It is more fun to play with the adults when you can actually act like one.

Have a good one everybody,
Bob

Im guessing this came from the jeep forum. You got moved because you poseted a stupid ass question about a chrome intake pipe for your street car on a hardcore rockcrawling website & the newbie forum (if Im a newb, you are) is the only place even slightly acceptable to post such ignorant retarded bullshit.

Maybe you should learn to read!!!

Tim84K10 & el ranger loco, I just have to tell you how entertaining this is becoming. It looks like both of you agree with each other. Too bad you couldn't read. last I checked I was asking about a Jeep product. HHMMMM lets see a Jeep, yeah that would be a 4x4. Since when did those become street cars? Oh yeah you're right, I'm sorry, you two are sharing the last brain cell between the two of you. You guys must get confused a lot under such pressure. Usually I don't play these games, but you guys have made it so entertaining for me. Are you guys for real? Or just putting on this act of being such dumb assholes. You guys sure can talk a lot a crap when no one knows who your are because you are anonymous on a website. Maybe you should put half of your angry energy into learning how to read and gain better reading retention. Maybe you should put half of your angry energy into learning how to read and gain better reading retention. Maybe you should put half of your angry energy into learning how to read and gain better reading retention. Yeah I typed it three times hoping that you might retain one of the three sentences. So now lets see what other insults you morons can type now. So far you haven't come up with any new insults that would would require imagination. Just the shit written on the urinal wall that you read as the rest of the trailer park is ramming you in the ass. So I guess I stand a bit corrected. You do have some reading retention as long as it is extremely repetitious. Hasta assholes.

And I apologize to the rest of the group for this getting so out of hand. It really is entertaining.

Is your jeep modified? Do you have larger axles, tires, deeper gears? Do you have a roll cage? Do you have a good working suspension? Have you ever taken it offroad? This site isnt about stock ass jeeps running around on non graded dirt roads.. Its about built rigs driving over very large rocks & taking the most extreme trails that would not even look passable to people like you, in your street car with your street car drivin ass.
