The theme of this project is to build a stout Ultra 4 car using mostly junkyard and used parts without sacrificing quality and performance. The end result will hopefully be a consistent finisher in the East Coast Ultra 4, RCROCs Race, and Line Mountain Series for an average Joe price tag. Basically a car built to give you the most bang for your buck!
First and foremost I want to thank Mike Abbatte at M4wd and Fabrications for all the help, shop space, and guidance. Wouldn't be here without ya.
We started laying tube in March after
acquiring:
-5 used Walker Evans beadlock wheels wrapped with Maxxis Trepador 40" stickies from Rausch Creek forum
-TH400 core for $75 with stock deep pan and locking dip stick
-Junkyard Dodge Powerwagon divorced NP205 transfer case with sweet John Deere green paint job lol
-GM LM7 5.3L truck motor out of a Sierra farm truck with 95k miles (bought whole truck complete with engine harness, MAF, computer, and all accessories.
-Set of Chevy CUCV 1 ton axles with factory Detroit rear locker and 4.56 gears
The base chassis lines follow those of a Bomber Fab style rig as I really like its simplistic/form follows function design. However, we put in our own twists throughout the chassis.
Surplus steel 1.75" .120 wall tubing with 2x2" .250 wall subframe and Ruff Stuff/custom made tabs.
