awesome shocks! I wish I could get my hands on some.....

any comments on how the king 2.5" air shocks work compared to fox or saw?

King doesn't make a regular 2.5 air shock. I won't know how they work compared to my old Fox 2.5 till next week.

They are also talking about making
3.0 bypass air shocks

hmm... ok... I could have sworn I read somewhere about 2.5" king air shocks... I must have a crappy memory. :homer:

I talked with fox about their 2.5" bypass air shocks and they said they were not going to go any further with them because they heated up so quickly and got really hot. The guy I talked to said you basically have to rebuild them every time out. I'd imagine they are working them pretty hard, hopefully you have some good success with them.

Let us know how they work, who knows... Maybe I'll buy some bypass tubes and weld a set up for myself! :grinpimp:

The tuning yesterday went great. The guys at KING spent all day working with me.Took some time to get it dialed in but, now it hauls ass in the desert. Soaks up big high speed whoops great. Much faster than before. Next week is 3 days at the Hammers trail running to see how they work on the rocks.

Great day to be in the desert.

Just when you think your going fast a TT starts testing and you find out what fast really is.

Something I've been curious whenever someone does tuning on shocks, how many times did you have to pull them off the truck and change the valving? I know every truck and shock is different in regaurds to this number but even once seems like it could be a pain in the ass! :homer: I realize it is necessary to get max performance, and having the expert king staff there doesn't hurt either!
Or did you even have to touch the valving and just messed with adjusting the bypass settings?

We pulled the shocks twice. Once for valving on the piston and once for an oil level change. No wait, we changed the oil level twice. But didn't pull the shocks the second time. The rest of the time it was just changing the valving on the tubes or a charge PSI adjustment. Thankfully KING had there trailer there so they can redo a shock about as fast as you can get the next one off. It would be much more work on a shock without bypass tubes. Even with the bypasses we worked on the car for 7 hours straight. This was the first time KING had these shocks on a car that could go fast. So it was a bit of a learning experience for them as well. They said when we were done it was faster than any crawler with coilovers they had worked on.Once we got to point
each little change on the tubes could be felt. I learned so much that day about setting a car up to be fast and controllable.

I had three day out at the hammers last weekend to try out the shocks. I knew they would work in the whoops from previous testing. It was out on the trail that I wanted to make sure
they would also perform. One of the things that I was concerned about was them being to soft at ride height for the trail. Or allow to much body roll. Thankfully this wasn't the case. The rig felt just a stable as it had before.
Still no need for a sway-bar. They really soak up the cross-grain stuff . Nice and plush. I'm very happy with the overall performance.

Hi everybody! First of all... sorry for my bad english! :shaking:
I'm trying to understand how this shocks works and could be tuned.

On the web, this King 2.5" bypass air shocks are available from 3 to 6 bypass. Could someone explain me the difference? When is correct use the 3 tube bypass and when choose with more bypass?

And about the setup? I now how a standard air shock works, beacuse on the rear I've a pair of it... but this model have the external valvle (bound and return) + another little pipe that I don't know what's it! :D

Thank you!

If anyone is interested I have a pair of these King Bypass Air Shocks for sale, 14" travel. I didn't use them much, ran KOH 2010 with them, worked great! No bad issues at all. they're in fantastic shape. Will sell for $800.00 pair shipped anywhere in USA via UPS Ground. Have spare parts from the matching pair that I converted to Non-Air-shock style. I will include at no extra charge.
