I'm building a 6.0 for my new crawler and with all the tuners to chose from it's hard to chose who REALLY knows there shit. So who is the PBB favorite as far as custom tuning goes? Im trying to avoid dyno time but not aginst it if it's a must do. I'm looking for someone I can sent my ECU to and have them get it tuned right the first time.

I've spoke with Mast Motorsports and they seem great but there exspensive or im to cheap :flipoff2:

My setup
LQ9
11.4ish comp
L92 heads beehive springs
Comp cam #54-455-11 215/233@112
LS3 intake
42lb injectors
92mm Fast TB
Custom headers
4" exhaust
Trans is TH400

It's going in this...

What computer are you using? that seems like alot of injector for just a cam an intake, Im not a fan of mail order tuning because its not ever perfect its just close enough to run and idle normally, there are a bunch of dyno/tuners in california. Morgans machine up near sonoma is northern cali. you may try him or he will def know someone that can do it.

He said he's running L92 heads. Basically he's got an LS3 in terms of performance. He's got 500hp min. Stock ls3 500hp engine uses 42# injectors. I'm no engine building guru or anything but I would think he's right where he needs to be.

I would agree though, it needs to be dyno-tuned. And on that note, who dyno-tunes yours up there in B-Ham?

Speartech did mine but mine is a standard 5.3 . the work was perfect though.

I want to say 80% , I will look for the injector numbers if you'd like, I get them from 5.0 motorsports , let me know if you need something tuned in bham area. As far as the dyno number..........sorry lol

Why are those #s a secret:confused:

I used a local guy to re-tune my SC3800 even though I bought a "tuned" PCM that was custom for my engine mods. We tuned it in a parking lot while he had his lap top hooked to the PCM. The difference was drastic! The guy charges $400 for a custom tune and it's well worth it. Send me a PM if you want his info.

Yea it is Very difficult to Mail order tune unless you have the EXACT same parts as what you used in your origonal tune..

For exampe 2 guys may both use 42 lb injectors but diffrent brand 42 lb injectors flow diffrent.. Making the tune way off..

Not much compares to live tunning.

My buggy went from 15 gallons a day REC. wheeling to 6-7 gallons last week when i finally took a wideband to JV and tuned live. (Dyno is prefered but i had the time) AFR was averaging 10.5 before tunning now running 12.5 average.

Is 600hp obtainable on a setup like mine?
you need to atleast put stroker kit in it to make it a 402 or 408 to make 600 I would say with 11:1 compression, depending on what fuel type your planing on running will determine how much power you can make without killing your engine, the last car was over 300 to the tires , the engine was 660bhp. the transfer case kills power on these buggies, dont get your feelings hurt if you only put down 200 + hp , the gearing is what takes the power. I was at turn key one day in california and saw a supercharged rock crawler put down 115hp:(.

I am sorry to inform you but cheap or not this is not a area of the build to try to save a penny or 2. You need to take the buggy and everything to a trusted well know shop who knows what they are doing and has a dyno so they can get everything out of it and do it right the 1st time.

There are a select few out there who can help you out. Good Luck!!

Thanks guys I appreciate all the replys.

It sounds like the TH400 and Atlas 3.0 are going to kill my hp numbers. I'll be very pleased with 500hp even tho it sounds like I'll loose 30-40% before it gets to the tires.

If I end up around 300whp on a good dyno tune I'll be good with that for now. I better try even harder to keep the buggy under 4K

I don't know why people in the 4x4 world get bent out of shape over RWHP vs flywheel HP. You know the drivetrain is gonna suck it up but if you go from a 250hp at the flywheel shitbox to a 500hp flywheel LS motor you're gonna feel it I don't give a damn how much the drivetrain takes. It's all relative.

didn't even know you were building a new rig dude :shaking: looks killer!
actually, the 42's are going to be on the small side, it will make 550 hp or something is wrong, 60's still spray nice and have room to grow.
anyways, call mark romans, he is the guy you need to get it right the first time... guessin someone already gave you the number, if not, p.m. me..

interesting

Hey there I just want to point something out and i am just being honest.

(mustang dyno) Problem # 1 This is not going to give you real #'s Ford Mustangs are the only thing that should be on that dyno.

I dont understand why all the LS and chevy and different guys continue to use the Mustang Dyno's??

Put it on a DYNO JET and then tell us what it makes. You will see a difference.

What year LQ4 is it? So the only things you have done to your motor is stock internals/heads, big cam, headers, dyno tune??

Also everyone needs to dyno their rig the same way it will look on the trail. dont dyno on 35's then run 44's on the trail. dyno on 44's!!!! You want the real #'s and facts.

for some reason 306 sticks in my head from when I picked it up.[/QUOTE]

Send us the #'s whenever you get them. dont feel bad if its low. these are not drag cars. All of us 4x4 guys loose HP from crank to tires. its a fact.

thanks for your honesty, now, go look up "eddy current dyno" and learn what you are talking about prior to spouting gibberish, mustang dyno is the premier dyno in the industry and dyno jet is the "feel good" dyno, they are all tuning tools... here is another cool factoid, dynojet is now adding load cells to there dynos, weird huh?..

Bumping this up as I am in need of a tuner that can do live tuning in the Carson city area.

2011 JKU Rubicon
XD60/PR80 5.38 ARB's
40's, 6l80e Atlas etc

5.3 Lc9, less the DOD. It still has the VVT with custom cam.

Comp cam 189-401-13
Duration @ .050" Lift: 214 and 228
lift .559 and .571
Lobe Separation: 114*
Intake Centerline: 107*

Got rid of the DOD so all lifters replaced with LS7's
New pushrods and springs. Comp cam's.
Keeping the VVT but using a phase limiter.
