Motor woes,....Power adders?

I have a dilema,.... or shall we say a few. My 89 Motor has seen better days, it about 300,000km on it and its still got some jam but its got some serious gasket issues, exhaust manifold is cracked and its starting to get a case of the rattles.
So with my next competiton coming up I would like to swap my renix for the HO. I plan on adapting the factory 89 harness to HO, make up an adaptor plate for the throttle,.. so i am not worried there. So the HO is apart for inspection, head has been rebuilt ported and polished but I was thinking while I am in there why not some extra HP? Maybe a cam (suggestions) Stroker with the old I6 parts? (Help?) I havent cracked much into the motors before mainly swapped in good know units as the old ones died.
Any suggestions would be appreciated on HP gains

Here are the HP/Torque stats for stock 4.0 engines.

4.0L I6 EFI "Power Tech" - 177 hp @ 4750 rpm, 220 ft lb @ 4000 rpm - used 87-90

4.0L I6 MPI "Power Tech HO" (High Output) - 190 hp @ 4750 rpm, 220 ft lb @ 4,000 rpm - used in 91-95 and updated in 96-01 to 225 ft lb torque @ 3000 rpm (00-01 models use a distributorless ignition system)

yup - just bolted the renix manifolds to it... they werent port matched, but there was a HUGE power difference... I attribute that to the age and mileage on the old motor more than anything else...

The renix oil pressure sender worked, the renix computer coolant temp sender went right into the HO thermostat housing, the knock sensor went into the side of the block, the only interesting thing was the gauge coolant temp sender - I ended up making a little tube and putting that inline with the heater (bypassed the heater core).
