The barrel isn't threaded from Walther. Well, it is threaded, but its a small thread that hold the nut on the end and keeps the barrel cover on. You have to purchase a new nut in order to have the external threads for a suppressor.

Not knowing much about P22s and what all the threaded bits are made of. Why not just tack weld the nut on? Doesn't matter if it has flats, if it's welded on.

 

Not possible as the slide needs to travel over the barrel nut. Weld would interfere with the slide travel.

 

If you are active duty, you used to be exempt from the AWB laws. Now, you'd need a letter from your CO.

 

Fusion weld with a tig, or silver solder would satisfy the requirement, and leave no bumps. Just wasn't sure if the nut was weldable.

 

I don't have one anymore but it sticks in my brain that the nut is Al.

 

could keep existing nut and weld up the flats, but I know the slide on the CA approved ones have a big "CA" stamped into the slide as well. I don't think that would be required, but you may run into an issue with a PO who doesn't know any better.

With the new California laws, 2018, I think if you remove that Loctited barrel nut, the pistol becomes an assault weapon and it may assault you when you least expect it, Only in California do politicians think of these things, :shaking:

Well, since this has been necro'd, how are those P22's running for you guys? I am in the market for a 22 semi auto pistol. Seems like people prefer S&W MP22's and Ruger SR22's to the Walther, less picky on ammo and more reliable in general. What say PBB?

ive had one of the first ones that came out probably over 15 years ago and i shoot it suppressed a lot. never have any trouble with it. shoot it all the time with Gemtech and Sk and federal automatch. i cant remember the last time i cleaned it.
