So I have a HS9500 and mounting on my CJ. It will not power in unless I ground the anyone of the 4 brown wires in the red circle. It powers out just fine....It is hooked up according to instructions. The small ground wire is grounded at the bottom of the winch along with a new ground wire back to the battery. Scratching my head on this one. Part of me thinks I should just have a small jumper wire from one of the solenoid mounting screws to one of the brown wire posts -but I really should not have to do this! What is going on?!??! :shaking:

The common ground that you have circled in the picture has a brown wire that attaches to the remote receptacle on the control pack cover. The small (red) ground wire that is attached to the main ground bolt on the underside of the motor is also attached to the remote receptacle. The grounding for the solenoids is an open circuit and not completed until the remote switch is toggled in or out.

Inspect the pins in the remote receptacle for damage. Tug on the wires on the backside of the receptacle and make sure they're secure and not pushing out of the socket when the remote is plugged in.

Push on the five pins in the plug on the end of the remote and make sure those are secure and not pushing back into the plug housing when the remote is plugged in.

Have a friend with a 5-pin remote that works? Easy way to eliminate the remote. If not, maybe you have a shop nearby that sells winches that will let you borrow one to check.
