Front axle on all 03+ HD trucks would be AAM HP 9.25.

Rear will either be AAM 10.5 or AAM 11.5. Hemi or SO CTD would get 10.5. CTD HO would get 11.5.

 

03 SO CTD auto 2500 was the only CTD to see a 10.5.....04.5 and up saw the demise of the SO and the CTD was only offered in HO trim. Every other 03 and up CTD gets an 11.5 rear. All Hemi 2500's get the 10.5 rear.

 

I have an 04.5 ctd auto w/ a 10.5r in it. 325/600 motor

 

9.25/11.50 combo is comparible to a 60/70 combo.

Agreed, the 11.5 is noticably larger in several aspects than a D70 - it is more comparable to a D80.

 

I agree with the 60 / 80 comparo too.

Any one have any pictures of the 10.5 V.S 11.5? or how to tell the difference when I got to look at them on the lots?

 

Once you look under the two trucks, it will be obvious to you. The 1150 center section is noticeably larger.

I thank the 10.5 has 3.5" tubes and the 11.5 has 4" tubes. Im not 100% on that but it would be a easy way to tell

 

10.5 has the smaller tubes vs the 11.5 also the 11.5 diff is ****in' huge. I had an 03 Cummins HO with the 11.5 its a big axle like everyone has say its comparable to a Dana 80

 

The dodge 10.5 is different from the chevy 10.5. Here is a dodge 10.5

if you get the larger diff in an automatic try to find a 3.73 my 06 2500 is a screamer.
