Well, who makes them? Who makes good ones? Im not looking for anything fancy, just 16.5" beadlock steel wheels, about 10" wide, and 8 lug. Ive seen a few companies, then i see horror stories, so whose making good ones now adays? Search in the vendors section for beadlocks only brings up stazworks and the goudy ones from poly performance. (with any amount of recent time) Who has good beadlocks, i dont have to worry about paying for and not recieving them? from what ive read stazworks hasnt done well on their full fillment, but this was from older threads.... So school me.

EDIT: And like every other red blooded american, i dont want to break the bank, although wheel looks mean very little to me.

There's really no point of running a standard beadlock on the outside of a 16.5 rim since they dont have safety beads to retain the inside bead of the tire when aired down. Yes I know there are some rare as hens teeth rims with safety beads, but even they have the shallow sloped bead profile common to 16.5's which more redily loose the beads at low pressure. Double beadlocks are the way to go for that rim size, which limits your search to H1 rims, Stazworks, or the scammer at 6x6. Dunno if Staun makes 16.5 setups or not, and guess you could use a couple sets of the DIY weld on locks per rim, but thats about the limit of your options.

I guess i should have clarified, double beadlocks would be the plan. Ill have to look for some recentered h1s i suppose? Ill look up 66cjdean, or maybe stazworks... have they gotten better with what they do? it seems all ive read about stazworks is bad, except the rare few satisfied people?

Stazworks did right by me. I ordered them with an original delivery date that was 5 weeks out.

I got them about 9 weeks later. Yes, they delay was 4 weeks, but I changed my mind on the center pattern (1 week delay), then on the rock rings (another week), and then one of his guys made a mistake and I ended up getting them powdercoated for about 1/2 price (another week)....

so he was only a week behind as far as I can tell

another vote for Stazworks, I wish I would have waited and got the pressed centers for mine, those look stronger

Another question on the bead lock situation, is there any heat issues with them, if you were to say take the truck on an extended trip? 400ish miles at highway speed?? Does heat seem to affect them in any way for an extended period of time?

Yea yea i know they are not DOT but i dont care about that aspect, just wondered what would happen if you took them on road, or if it even mattered at all.

I have heard talk about getting the outer rings of H1 Rims Widened They are 8.25 stock i have seen widening services for 2 or 4 inches wider.

And recentering them is a must unless you have a DRW frontend .

I just picked up several sets for my rig and for sale.

I am going to recenter a set for use with 6 lug

And get 8 lug spacers for my other truck so i can run any humvee wheel in case i get some more in the future and they have better tires i wont have to swap tires to my modifyed wheels.

Or if i ruin one i wont have to get another recentered.

Just a thought if your setup is already 8 lug.

Spacers can be got off ebay for 90 a pair. 2" thick

8 bolt H1's were designed for the lower pressure bias ply tires that the H1's originally came with.
12 bolt version was built to handle the higher pressure radial tires that the H1's now use. Lots of guys here using both styles with success.
Depends on what track width/suspension setup you want whether you need to recenter them or not.
I'm going to run mine stock and use DRW hubs up front.

you should look into some rims from a company in the north east called rockdog4x4.com they make 16.5 double bead locked rims for rockwells but they start ith a american racing 16.5 eight lug rim i am sure they could make a set for you. i have a set of them for my rockwells that have taken a beating like no other bead lock i have owned and i have never lost a inner bead and i am running like 3-4 psi.

What kind of pricing were they for you?

H1 beadlocks. Cheap, simple, effective.
If i go this route, i will have to get them recentered, and will definetly look into the pressed centers, as it will see some street time, the truck is not dedicated offroad, but not a DD either. CJDeans look to be 245 each with a rebar ring, and all new hardware. Stazworks has new ones for about 315 each with cold rolled rings, and pressed centers. Might just have to go with CJDeans for the price of 4 stazworks i can get a free 5th for a spare of the recentered h1s.

Another vote for Staz

I don't remember anyone saying they were unhappy with Stazwork's product, just their lead time. When I ordered mine he was kinda hard to get on the phone but when I talked to him he took as much time as needed. They took about a week and a half longer than originally claimed but I wasn't in a hurry. I am very happy with rims.

In my origional searching it brought up results with people having leaky welds, and them not repairing/replacing them, and basically telling them too bad, but maybe this was an earlier stage of production, as later i also found a post from John saying that they air test all of them now.

i think they were like 250 a piece with the aluminum outer ring. they might do it for less since you are not cutting out the center to weld in the rockwell lug center.
they do a lot of trick things on their rims that alot of other companies dont do like who else has a tire centering ring on thier outer bead lock setup? they are close frineds of mine so i will pm you with the rest of what the rims consist of.
