So, is this going to be an off road vehicle only at this point? I can't imagine that those square driveshafts would work too well in a DD type application...

Otherwise, it's looking good!
For now, as long as I have the 5:71's in the axles, it's not going to be driving much on the street. Hopefully later down the road I can gear the Tcase and get some 4:88's for the axles. Then I can drive it again.

Thank you!

Finally got the driveshaft in. I wanted to eliminate the CV all together, but for now I had to work with what I know works for my rig. That's also a future plan to eliminate... soon :D

I love what you've done with your 'migo!

After relocating the rear axle do you have clearance issues with the gas tank? I'd like to do this to mine, but I don't necessarily want to put the gas tank in the bed.

Thanks! No I have not had any clearance issues with the gas tank. The only issues I have/had were with the rear quarter, but a friend of mine busted out the hammer and took care of that last weekend :p

Here's some pics from this weekend's trip :)

My fuel filler neck is cracked, and I didn't realize it until we were on our way there. I made it through (Con) on the measly 5 gallons I was able to get in at the gas station.

Thats looking awesome... I sooo need to get mine back together and get out on the trail in it... I'd talk about it here but someone will just accuse me of threadjackin or being conceited :shaking: so I'll do it in my build thread... :flipoff2:

...discovered I had a busted knuckle bearing... That put me off a day till I could find a replacement, but I"m good to go now!
Call me next time -- I've got spares! The temporary bumper looks good!

The axle scoot back looks good -- you're gonna need to move those bumps, tho! :p How much sheet metal is that gonna need to move? Extending the arc of the wheelwell might look pretty good, if you matched what you did on the front side of the rear wheelwells!

Oh, and I hope you used Marlin's snazzy new axle/knuckle inner seals -- I've been sporting those for most of the summer and my knuckles are still clean and tight, which is a welcome change!

BTW, J, you must be *cursed* with shocks. :p

I believe we matched it up to the studs once.. never bolted it on though. I have spacers that assist in allowing that rim to work. I hope to never have to use it before I get new rubbers and rims though :D

From the looks of it, I won't be on the trail till next September. I have high hopes for my rig, but I may be moving and that means the rig goes to storage :(

And thank you :)

Randii I just saw this post. I was going to bring this thread back just so I don't lose it (see my jacked up thread? that's just so I don't lose my link :D )

I am using Marlin's bearing/seal kit, and come to think of it, I believe the bearing I blew out was Marlins as well, but I had forgotten all about the spares I left at Jeremy's shop.

I am cursed when it comes to shocks. I used an 80 MIG on the shocks, and didn't think about the lack of penetration. I want to run the shocks up into the wheel well under the hood, that way I don't have to worry bout the tires hitting them.

My poor rig has been sitting in the garage since the Roundup in September. I have to smog it and register it, but first I have to fix it. I can fix the steering issue easily (lost the tie rod nut), then I just need a temp to take it to the smog shop. But I'm not sure if the new exhaust system will pass visual. We'll see! I want to be able to take it to Prairie City, and I can't do that till I register it, and I can't register it till I smog it. It's one big endless loop :shaking:

Been there, done that -- suggest working with the DMV to get a temporary tag, which is easier than you think. Go in there with proof of current insurance and pay the registration fee, then tell them that you need some time to make it pass smog. They'll generally give a two-month pass, but if you do this enough years, they do start to get stubborn. :p

Call me when you wanna hit Prairie City!
