If you're going to be by pittsburgh then your best bet for fun is Yellow creek, its about 5hrs from me, should only be about 3.5hrs from you.


I don't know of any other offroading parks in our are , though there is one in the Alleghenies.

 

Wellsville aka yellow creek is probably under a hour from the burgh even towing a trailer. Plenty of riding there anything from mild to death wheeling. Then you have private Parks like rock run, rausch creek, etc. Etc.

 

yea, im going to register on the above site. seems like a few good guys. but i have only ever done the power line kind of wheeling and some tight trails so i am new to the trails...

 

I'm from the Pittsburgh area as well. Like these other guys said, Wellsville is going to be your best bet. Rausch creek, Rock Run, Stillwell and Doe Valley are also good choices that are within a reasonable distance.

 

Well. I checked out wellsville. For sure goin there.. so I got a question.. blairsville area, would they care if my bumpers were at 28.5 front and 31 rear.. lol

 

31 is too high, but i wouldnt expect them to say anything. 30 is the legal limit in pa.

 

i think he was saying pgh-offroad would be the best place for me to meet people around the area..

If you want to head down south a little bit there is Powerline in St. Claresville OH, there is Whetstone, Hell you might even be able to get in good with some Brooke County WV boys and have them take you out to their special places and I KNOW there are ao couple of spots from Weirton WV, through Wheeling WV, even north like Chester WV down through Weirton

Maybe we could hook up and check out Rock Run. Me and another buddy that lives in Erie PA are meeting up next weekend for a ride at Wellsville. Hollar if you want to go along. Get on Bigrubbers web shit. Bunch of good ol' boys, and they have a place to wheel about 30 minutes from Blairsville. Don't forget Rock Run in Patton too.

well another damn yankee is leaving nc to get back to pa....ill be looking to meet some of yall on the trails,ill be living just outside of pgh

 

been to rock run on the dirt bike a couple years ago before it was opened to all vechicles def would be worth a 30min trip im tring to plan a trip there before they close for winter

 

ya rock run is a good time. wellsville will supposedly be going away here soon. i heard december.

 

Oaktree is sold. I dont see anyway there going to keep the locals out legal or not. I thought forbiden zone is under new owners? Sounded like they were trying to clean the place up and make it respectful haha. Maybe joe will chime in, i think he is part troll, he basically lives there. Lol

 

You can still wheel at Oaktree until Jan 1st. Forbidden Zone is now called The Village and under new ownership. With Oaktree closing, The Village is probably most legit place to camp @ Wellsville.

OakTree was 400something acres I believe, so there will be a chunk of Wellsville going away next year.

The lookout area on the east side is now closed because the state is taking that cliff down some to prevent rockslides on hwy 7.

Get down to Wellsville before it gets any smaller.

 

Big Rubbers 4x4 club has 180 acres of legal wheelin 30-45 minutes from wyotech just outside of Windber thats called Doe Valley. www.bigrubbers4x4.org is their web site. i have a buddy of mine going to wyotech right now, he bought my YJ and we are working on putting it back together now. If you want to come check out our property some time give us a shout and come on over and wheel.
