I've read alot about it but, the one thing i can't seem to pin point is if there is a front end that will fit good with out shorting the axle. I was also thinking i could do a little fab. work on the side of the fender's to cover the spray from the tires if it's alittle out side the fender. My s10's an 83 and from what i have read i'm gonna go with a dana 35, the springs are to be right in place and the pumkins already on the left side. Right now i do med. wheeling, nothing where i need above 35in. tires. thanx

just use a full size dana 44. they look bad ass with full sizes under them, then find a lick and stick and u can drive it on the road. if your worrying about spray from the tires, you dont need a SAS. stick with ur IFS and A/Ts. but if you want to man up, heres what ur truck should look like. This is my buddy corys' SAS 350 powerd S-10 rollin on 35's

I agree. Looks like he chopped the frame mounts and welded hangers to it with no support. Really nice :flipoff2: Looks weak though.

a dana 35 should be about the right width but dunno if I'd go threw all the trouble to put a 30 under it . . even jeep guys don't like to run em :D

here is my project s10 with full widths with 16.5x15 wheels with 3.5 BS and 44x18.50 tsl's
(no suspension hooked up in this pic)

with the trailing arms under it but without shocks or anything yet

here's with arms and shocks on it still gotta add a panhard bar or watts link and a few other things for the suspension to be complete

Do you mean a Dana 30? or a TTB 35 out of a Ford, I've never heard of a 35 solid front axle. A built 30 would handle 35's, but I wouldn't wast money on a 30. A Waggy 44 would be just a bit widder than a 30. You might have to fab your own spring pirches though.

ya those front spring mounts are a lil weak like that! but thats because i hadnt welded all the braces and shit to it yet.:flipoff2: i took that pic the mornin after doin the swap and i didnt want to brace and weld everything untill i knew how it was going to sit and how much the springs were gonna sag. its a good thing to cause i ended up cutting them back off and making new ones that then got all braced up. as for what axle to use, if your trying to keep the tires from sticking out really far use a front axle from a wrangler. my buddy used one on his and had 33x12.50x15 tires on it with medium size flares on the frenders and it was fine. as for running 35s on it, that up to you your the one thats got to fix it.

I think early Bronco is the closed to stock width to S-10s. Scouts, Jeep YJs, Waggy's, and I'm there are a couple others, but those will be close to stock width. Don't mess with the 30 inless you don't plan to try it offroad. My personal opinion, full width axles look like shit under an S-10....just my opinion....

If i go with a dana 44 what one do i look for so the pumkins on the driver side. And who ever has done it and had it come out right does the springs line up with the frame? I dont want to do a soa, i'm hopeing i can just leave the springs under the axle and have a good lift. It has a 4 inch suspention lift and 3 inch body but when i install the front axle i am going to replace the back axle to.

heck no it dont, that would make it to easy. the springs are a bit inside the the frame. you just have to fab some hangers to go a bit inside the frame. really aint that hard

I was Really disapointed in the lack of a good burn from "grumpy Old Fart" on this week's round of S-seires whining... So Guess All have to Step up
SEARCH NOOB
don't waste your time with a 30 and if you want the minimal stregth a D44 provides and still want to stay "narrow" with out cutting down an axle you've got two choices #1 Early Bronco #2 80'? and up Jeep Wagoneers...

well i figured you guys would be able to tell that its not nearly done, :shaking: no steerin no drive shaft no brake lines? but i was wrong. he was just checkin if that was the height he was lookin for, so he threw the front axle under it befor anythnig got to permanent. the hitch was 1/4 wall 2.5" box so it should be plenty strong old queef:flipoff2:. i'll see if he's got any better finished pics. jm8881- are you retarted? upside down.... its a hp44 out of a 78' bronco
