6.8 ratio, air lockers, 45 degree steering, 9 ton
I'm surprised they use such a heavy axle on a truck that only weighs about 8000 lbs.BAE RG32 is the only thing I know of, but I'm sure there are others out there.
They weigh 16000 lbs. :homer:I'm surprised they use such a heavy axle on a truck that only weighs about 8000 lbs.
I just googled it and it was 3700 KG. Maybe there's a heavier model. They weigh 16000 lbs. :homer:
4.45 tons or 7300 kg combat wt. dislexia gets us all sometimes :flipoff2:I just googled it and it was 3700 KG. Maybe there's a heavier model.
This is the site I went to.Looks like 7300 KG's for a normal one and 8300 for the LTV. 9500 kg GVW. That's almost 21,000 lbs. Link takes you to the BAE website so you'll have to search.
In what world are you going to make an up-armored, mine-resistant MDT with a bigass diesel, bigass axles, and bigass tires that light? Unarmored Humvees were pushing 8k lbs 20+ years ago. :shaking:
Being that Axletechs were made for mine-resistant vehicles, anything they came on is gonna be big and heavy.
Those don't run the 4000s. In the wording it says they run a single reduction axle. And in the pics doesn't look like any have planetaries. This is the site I went to.
Army Guide - RG-32 Scout, Patrol Vehicle
They look like their about the size of a Humvee. Scroll down and it has specs. 3660 KG. I guess that's for the basic one. They list all kinds of variants. They look kind of cool.
To answer your question, I would love to build one of those in this world. Haven't you seen the Zombie Killer thread?
Sorry bout the hijack. I'll shut up now.
I'd be very interested in 4 hydraulic brake calipers including pads...have a friend that is starting to cut up and scrap a large collection of Axletech 4000s, Meritor (medium and huge ones), even some Oshgosh and odd-balls. There were a few Meritors w/ lockers that were very cool, but didn't get time to take pictures of everything. About 70% are still in crates, but he is slowly cutting them into 3ft sections and scrapping since he can't find a market. 918-729-2239, call, text or PM and I will pass on info. Can also pick up and deliver as long as you have a way to unload them!
Why not point him in this direction. There seems to be a pretty big market right here. Seems like a perfect vendor scenario.have a friend that is starting to cut up and scrap a large collection of Axletech 4000s, Meritor (medium and huge ones), even some Oshgosh and odd-balls. Everything I saw was air brake, no hydraulic observed and I don't recall that being an option on any of these heavy bastards. There are a few people who have easily converted to hydraulic using Toyota brakes, like "Monster Buggy" and I've heard of a few people trying to use the OE rotor with a 1 ton sized caliper, but running a 20" wheel is the limiting factor. The boys running AGs on large rims can easily package something.I'd be very interested in 4 hydraulic brake calipers including pads...
He's on here, I'm just trying to help get him more attention. This isn't a situation where he doesn't know the value of them or know that there will be a market in the future. Problem is this stuff cost a good bit to get, is taking up space and the only buyer with consistent demand is the scrapper unfortunately. So, he's trying to put the better stuff off to the side and scrap the massive or oversized stuff first while he sells a few sets here and there. I just hate seeing good parts go to scrap. I'm not getting any middle-man cut for helping sell, but I hope to help enough to possibly earn a pair for myself! :flipoff2:Why not point him in this direction. I'm Confused....Did he list them for sale here? I guess my first post was a subtle attempt at you or him to post up a link or something. He's on here, I'm just trying to help get him more attention. I checked into it a little. Caliper brackets would need to change in addition to the caliper itself. It'd be expensive... let's just leave it at that.I was wondering what axletech would want for the hydraulic caliper? Might be worth it by the time you factor in machining cost of running a different caliper...
