OK so i've been looking and finding different answers so hopefully someone has first hand knowledge. I have a 96 gmc jimmy that has a rod knock and a 87 nissan pickup with a gutless 4 banger in it. I would like to get a carburated v6 that will bolt to the jimmy's auto trany so i can put it into the nissan. Need to know what cars had carbed v6 that will bolt to the trans in the jimmy. Any and all input appreciated.

Thankyou,
Jonathan

As far as I know, the only carber 4.3s were in 85-86. You can prolly get a carb intake from an industrial motor supplier (irrigation engines and what not) and put it on a later model injected 4.3 if you cant find a carb version. Also note that 85 model 4.3s have a 2 piece rear seal, which makes rebuilding the engine a pain in the ass if you have to locate a new crank.

I believe to be SMOG legal (Calif car), he needs to use a computer controlled carb, among other things for the swap he's outlining. I don't think any '87 or later cars had "plain" carburation.
