Coil Spring question for SAS on Explorer..

I'm trying to figure out what coils to run on my Explorer when I do the SAS in the next few weeks. I'm gonna be swapping in a HP D30 for now since I'm not gonna be doing any hardcore wheeling yet. I have a 5.5" Superlift with the TTB and I wanna keep the same ride height when I do the SAS so my question is what coils should I run? So far I've decided either Wild Horses 3.5" coils or the BC Broncos 3.5" coils. Any ideas?

well you've already narrowed it down and the 2 mfg you've chosen offer good products and I've seen great results from both of them as for the ride height sad to say you may be playing spring swaps until you get it the way you like. Check the for sale section and ebay for either of the 2 that you're looking for so you can save some $$ if you don't like the ride height.

I'm going to use superflex 5.5 early bronco lift springs in mine. I'm using fsb buckets not cut down and spaced out 2"s...
Was thinking the same thing, that is a nice coil. But, if he is looking to keep the same ride height, he will need to put some extra effort in moving the FSB buckets up, and maybe cutting the coil or he'll end up taller than he wants, I would guess.

I'm going to try my best to keep the total lift on mine around 6"s so it'd probably be close. Don't know though, it's al hypothetical since i haven't even done the swap yet haha. He would deffinitly have to adjust the mounts to make that work though. The only reason i'm going with the 5.5" coils is since I think it would make for a slightly more flexy front end, i figure if the coil has more room to move it will given the same amount of total lift. Hope my thinking is on track...

Well, I ordered a pair of Wild Horses 3 1/2" coils since I've heard better things about them than the BC Broncos coils. I still wanna be able to drive my Explorer on the road so I'm not gonna run Heep coils :shaking: Anyways, thanks for the suggestions, I'll possibly show the finished project to you guys when it gets done mid. December.

I've used the Duff 3.5s on my Ranger, gained about the lift you are looking for with a 302 and cut FSB buckets. I am currently running deaver H10C's on the front (5.5" Linear rate EB coils). They give me a much more safe on road feeling. I'm puttin WH 3.5" coils in my YJ, they are super soft with a v8, and should be better suited in the lighter rig.

Runs on the road just fine. Even with the "heep" coils.:flipoff2:
