So I could use some insight from those here that have been running it.
My friend recently got his after I introduced him to this thread shortly after it started.
He got the Razorweld RazorCut45 that you can buy with the system.
We've been using it mainly lately to try and cut brackets for me out of 1/4".
We could use some help in trying to figure out some things.
We've tried various amperages from 30-45, and feed rates from 15-25ipm trying to get the cleanest cuts. The machine is capable of 1/2" supposedly, so 1/4" should be no problem. We would adjust by increments of 5 on either.
We've tried cutting left (CW) and right (CCW), and various other things.
What we've noticed is that one side of the bracket will be rather smooth, looks great, and the other side is rougher and has more bevel. This didn't seem to matter with cutting direction (CW or CCW).
Examples:
The best we could get @ 20ipm and 45A (max amperage):
You can see one size is nice and smooth, barely any bevel. The other side is rougher and has more bevel. The lead in/out is visible there.
This was @ 20ipm and 40 Amps:
From there they were all either rougher, had more bevel, etc.
I've moved to undersizing the holes quite a bit, drilling them out. The tend to have a bit of oblong-ness to them, and a bit of bevel.
So some things I'd appreciate if anyone who's been running it could give input on:
- Feed Rates their running (1/4" is what we're trying to dial in)
- Amperage (I do realize this and feed rate do somewhat depend on cutter being used).
- Cutting direction (CW or CCW, does it matter?)
- Torch height - are use using the thinner or thicker spacer?
- How are you going about cutting holes? Nothing I'm seeing says that I should plan on holes not needing to be undersized and drilled out.
- Feed in/Feed out - Speeds, general tips on placement, angle, etc.
Overall the brackets that we've cut have been fine for me with a little clean up and drilling out of holes (everything is 5/8" currently).
However it would be nice to get the system really dialed in. We cut out probably a dozen of the same tab yesterday evening trying whatever we could.
