f150 rear springs setup for 79' toy. "?"

My ford spring are about 57" long and are off center about 2" So my Question is do I run the long side forword or towords the back to gain the most fix? I know that the chevy springs are off center too. It would be cool if I can get a little feed back..

we cant take over the world. Look at every well built 79, they arent 79s anymore. the only thing from my 79 is the engine and frame. Oh yeah mine isnt well built. ha ha

My 79 has 22r with fuel injection, marlin crawler, locker in the rear, and a flat black paint job to cover up the rust and bald 35" tire which are going to be replace soon.

ya!! so i could have built it more gooder:flipoff2: j/k

if you mount the longer part of the spring foward it will make it easier for the spring to twist= more over all flex? right? some one back me up.

Only thing that comes to mind off the top of my head is that mounting the short side to the rear could give you a better departure angle, depending on your frame or bobbed bed. If the long side forward extends past the frame bend then that front hanger will become the lowest point on your frame and subject to getting hung up.

There would also be an impact on your pinion angle, unless you are remounting your perches on the axle at the same time. Short side back would point the pinion down more than long side back. Of course you can always use shims.
