I use an E2000 pump; an older AMC V-8 coil bracket makes a nice holder for the pump and makes it easy to mount. I run two Walbro pickups in the tank and have never starved for fuel.

I had an issue when the blue fuel pickup hose that comes in the tank came off after bumping around on the trail. I should have replaced it when I put the pickups in, because I had read about a few people having an issue with it; instead I got to redo it with a 2/3's full tank of fuel on the trail.

 

I will be doing the same thing soon. I already have 2 walbro pickups and trying to decide which route to take. I'm thinking about going external, as I may decide to install a v8 in the future and want to still use the same fuel cell and not have a big hole in the top of it.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

 

I run an e2000 pump and that exact cell, other than when I have had less than a gallon of gas I have never starved for fuel and I did no modifications to the cell. I would advise you to go this route instead of adapting your stock pump, its just much easier...

 

another vote for external

 

x3 for external. I have a Walbro 255 lr/hr with two Walbro pickups in the cell. Works great, as long as I remember to fill it with gas :homer:

 

I wish I had a return line on my TJ so I could have gone external. After I did the work to use my factory pump I should have just swapped the fuel rails off a YJ and ran a return line and external pump.

You could just buy an external regulator and mount it anywhere between the pump and rail if your rail doesn't have a return.

 

search out the difference between the E2000 and the E8248. There are plenty of people, myself included, that found the E8248 to be a much better pump than the E2000.

 

are you using the E8248 with a 4.0L?

it seems like the external pump and 2 walbro pickups would be a little overkill for a 4.0L....

will someone post picks of their set up with these external pumps?
