i tried searchin but didnt come up with much bout the o-rings. ive got stock 12b h1 rims and bought some o-rings which i believe to be the correct size (according to another member), but when i try to put them on the rims, they seem every so slightly too small. i was expecting them to just sit in, and these wont do that. is there a trick to stretch them out to get them to sit in place? i know letting them sit in the sun, but will that really stretch them enough? does anyone have measurements of the correct o-rings so i can see if these are correct or not?

second question:
ive also go the stock mag runflats is it completely necessary to cut them down or can i leave them alone? i dont have access to a bandsaw, and for some reason couldnt get in a groove with the sawzall. the tires going on are 42" iroks. the truck is done, and i really just want to drive it/wheel it, so i want to get the tires on so i can enjoy it. if the only reason to cut them down is to be able to run 2-3psi, then i can do that later (id like to get pvc inserts everntually).

any help with either question would be much appreciate:D

Touch me like 6 hrs with a BFH and a sawzall. Use the bfh to nock the ribs out and then sawzall the mowhalk off then sanding dish on a grind done. Ive helped narrow a couple sets down only had to cut like 1/4 to 3/8's off of them. Plus there free. Just alittle time and swet. I watch one guy just pull the little liner off of them. They held on irocks.

Why 'd you paint them they wont rust.

i know it defeats the purpose w/o the inserts, but for now thats what im going to have to do til i can get the pvc inserts. ive read bout people having sealing issues, hopefully i dont have that problem.

i installed the 2 halfs together w/o the tire using blue rtv on the o-ring and use a pick to seat the o-ring. bolt it together and let that set over night then when you pull the halfs apart the oring stays in the groove. (this also adds some sealing w/ the rtv i guess)

cool thanks for the help guys!

another question. since im not going to be airing down much for several months, is there a need to even run the runflats for now? if not, then i might try just install the tires w/o them and get a set of pvc inserts sooner rather than later. would that work?

My o rings were the same as yours. I put them in hot water for a few minutes and then streched them out by hand while they were hot. I put my foot inside the o-ring and then pulled up on them with 2 hands pretty hard in oreder to stretch them. Then quickly installed them before they cool off. Worked like a charm.
