How much power do you expect from a LS 408?

Alot of things go into how much power, whats done to the heads, what compression ratio, what pistons etc... plus who is tuning it can be a huge differance. The beginning of the video with the specs sounds like a pretty nice motor combo. I watched last wkend they did the fi tech fuel injection and on a 350 it bumped it up about 30-40hp. Its also nice to see it broke in and dynoed before you get it, then you know what your getting is a huge plus...Is this for a buggy..?

It's the shape of the manifold/air valve that make top end. If he put efi and a square bore throttle body on it the curve would be about the same as it is now.

Fwiw, carbs on ls motors make baby Jesus cry.

be very interesting to find out true #s. my lq4 runs pretty strong and is not stroked. I've been tossing around the idea of doing a stroker kit for more power. it's been dyno tuned and puts down 367 on 35" tires. assuming we get hit with a 30% loss on a dyno, that would give me 525hp at the crank.

it has a custom grind cam (comp cams) and texas speed heads. comp ratio should be high 10s:1 if I remember right (due to heads)

when will you know? the other part I'm thinking (for me) is that will my th350 live behind 600+hp

It has a lot more in it.... 600hp if you followed it out?

My new buggy is damn near done and it was being tuned and dyno'd last week....LQ4 bored a little over, stock bottom end, forged flat tops at 11:1, cam :smokin:, worked over 243's, stock LQ4 intake, larger injectors....it pushes thru a RMVB built up TH400, ORD doubler, 14BFF, 42's with bead locks....I've got 4.56's in the axles and they backed off on the dyno at 130mph at around 4500rpm (need deeper gearing). It turned out 300hp/367TQ to the rear wheels.

From what I've researched parasitic loss in rigs setup similiar is much higher than 30%. Other people have experienced 40-55%. That puts mine at 500-550. With the additional displacement in your engine, 540 sounds right. Wouldn't doubt it if you had more in there.....congrats.
