While I may not agree with it, the wife has nicknamed her the Minion. The Minion is a '67 800 I picked up about 4-5 years ago and did the initial build then. Have put many miles on her and everything is working pretty well. In the mean time i built a LQ9 from spare parts and found a NV4500 mated with a D300. I have been sitting on these parts for some time and just recently started to do the swap. Along with the swap she will finally get power brakes and completely rewired and re-plumbed.
First build included the following: Scout II Dana 44 front and rear, lockers with 4.56 gears, Chevy flat top knuckles with high steer arm, Scout II power steering box tapped and PSC hydro assist ram. Tires and wheels are from a trade deal I made and suspension is made to fit with stock Waggy and Scout II springs. Cage, seats, sliders, rear bumper, rear Warn 8000# winch all help add to her 4580lbs starting weight. Waiting to see how much weight the iron block LQ saves vs the heavy 266 V8.
Pulled the factory 266 V8, T-18 four speed, and D20 case. These will be rebuilt and used in a '66 800 half cab I picked up two years back.
New clutch installed and mated the 6.0l to the NV4500/D300 combo.
Removed factory frame mounts and saved to use when the 266 goes in the '66. Lined up everything and made an engine cross member then burned in the mounts. Also in these pictures you can see the mock up of Hydroboost, and factory GM clutch master behind the battery.
Made sure to leave room for links and panhard for the 3-link to come.
Now she waits for the F-body aluminum radiator and cooling fans to be installed. Before that I need to install the AC compressor to be used for onboard air.
