Thanks Old jeep. I have read about these reversible motors. The motor I got is working fine now but if i ever have to replace it the link and part number you provided will help alot.

 

About the only thing I would add is that the Warn 8274 was the final refinement of the Belleview 6000-8000s spur gear winch's. The 8274 solenoids were wired in parallel.

A single solenoid would work, but I found that with mine, I had to carry a a spare solenoid. Finally ended up wiring two solenoids in parallel.

As far as the winch controller, if its a single pole motor, wire up both ends of the switch for power in.

the 8274 doesn't run two in parallel. in each direction one solenoid connects +12 to one of the fields and the other connects the other field to the armature. you are only using 2/4 solenoids at any time. technically they are in series.

I used one side of the wiring diagram above excluding the other two solenoids on a unidirectional motor. I mis-spoke in the interpretation of the wiring diagram.
