have gone anther direction so im thinging about selling my 73 ford f250 project, was doing a 460 swap, and have most of the parts, like the motor, trans, fram perches and motor mounts from Land L. the truck has a 203 transfercase dana 60 rear, 44 front that i was told is a boat anchor.lol. have a semi float 14 bolt from a 95 chevy diesel with disc brakes i was going to swap out the 60. clean dmv non opp ca title, was looking to get 800.00 for all of it or should i peace it out, if i did that could i sale the title to the truck for like a 76 thru 79 ford here in ca so they wont need smog. or trade for other parts for my other rig, like new tires, lets hear your ideas

I'll give you a case of Keystone Ice for it.

Seriously though, there are too many factors for anyone to really know what your project... ahem.... pile of parts...is worth. Since you have almost everything, why don't you just get a 60 for the front and finish it up? Since you already have the mystical rare Ford 203 you could buy a 205 and make a doubler as well.

may just part it

maybe i should have started with a chevy truck, but my other truck is a ford to, so im stuck, spending 700 dollars on having that c6 built to go in it was a waste of time. i could put a 60 in it, take it out of my 90 f350. i would pay someone 1000.00 to put it together. im sure they dont have the time ether,

No, you are still better off with the Ford. The 73-79 were great looking and well built trucks. The only thing bad about it is the front axle really, which is a breeze to swap out for a better one.

Since you seem more strapped for time than anything, why not take it step by step and start with the engine swap and get it running? Even though it's a shitty front axle, it's still a WORKING front axle and you can still run around with it. Spending 700 for a rebuilt C6 is a little more than I would have paid, but it's still the stoutest damn auto trans you can buy and I think you'll be happy if you can just get it and the 460 under the hood. With a friend or two you should be able to get the engine and trans in in less than a weekend.

You probably won't make out of the truck what you have already purchased in parts, so if I were you I would buckle down and put her together. Spend that thousand and put it towards a 78-79 Dana 60 and upgrade your front axle. The 90 axle won't work correctly because it has slightly wider spring perches and the differential is offset further to the driver's side, so you will need a late 70's axle.

Do this and you will have a much better truck than a comparable chevy.

i'd buy it if you were from pa..... Always wanted a high boy..

I would put it together dude, sounds like you have a good plan, 460, c6, 14B and front 60, get a married 205, go to northwest fab and get yourself their doubler kit for a decent price and build yourself a 203/205 combo case and drive the some bitch.

Your right these trucks are dogs and they have their weaknesses...
Steering sucks! Is yours manual? Swap out to p/s with a 70's 2wd box and crossover.
78/79 kingpin front disc is your ONLY option for a 60 front as stated the newer axles are wider and you can't even narrow it as the spring pad would have to land right on the pot. You "can" out board the front springs just like how your rear spring work for a wider stance but if it will ever be on the street it would never fly past an inspection.
I would basically find the proper axle first then decide where to go from there.
Your brakes probably suck too. Even if you put that 14 bolt disc axle in your front drums will still lag. The front does 60-70% of stopping anyways.find a hydroboost setup from a 99-2000ish superduty and make it work. Do a Saginaw pump swap and your brakes will be freaking awesome.
203 tcase is nice as the gear box can be used for a double.
I've upgraded almost every part now in my 73 but it's a badass machine on and offroad now and it's my favorite year ford but you just need the right parts man..

im glad you guys told me that a 60 from a 89-90 ford f350 wouldnt work, trying to find a 60 from a 78-79 will probley be nearly impossible, the 700 i spent on the c6 was because i had the best parts put in it, told them it had to handle 500 hp, so the little extra it cost should be worth it, maybe i should just make time for it, would be a hell of a truck once it was done. so is that 14 bolt going to be to wide to for the truck, maybe convert the 60 rear over to 35 splin. my other project is a 90 f350 with a 460 kingpin hp60 inthe front 10.25 sterling in the rear with 5.13 gears detroit locker in the rear and eaton electrice locker in the front, it is a crew cab long bed, it has been shortend 32inches and costem tube truggy bed made for it, 63" chevy springs in the rear for more flex. eats jeeps for lunch,
