what years in ford pickups or broncos did they start using the hydraulic clutch setup. I need to find a bellhousing that runs the hydro setup so i can convert my manual swap over to a hydraulic clutch setup. Im running a 400m...there is a guy local that has transmission setup...if i can confirm that it was bolted to the back of a M series motor i will get it.
or car-part.com has them for cheap...i just don't know when they started using hydraulic clutch setups...the bellhousings were cast aluminum if im not mistaken.

im running the 435...so one with the 435 thats behind a M series motor will work or a t18 bellhousing will work...my main concern is what years they came with hydro setup, and that those Vehicles had M series motors in them.

thanks
im tired:flipoff2:

if i remember right, there's a smallblock bolt pattern, and a big block pattern, and i think they are interchangeable. as for the hydrulic clutch, it's from 80-84 that they converted them, a lot of it depends on the trans that is used. most of the 4-speeds were just adapted with the external slave cylender, which hooks up the same as the rod clutch if i remember right.

huh? Your telling me a i can use a 302 bellhousing for a np435 or t18 and it will bolt up to my 400?? Im not a real ford guy, but that doesn't sound right from what i have read on here.

The t18 and np435 use the same butterfly pattern on the front face of the tranny...so i could use a t18 or np435 bellhousing as long as it can bolt up to a 400 motor.

i don't understand how the metal linkage clutch is hooked up the same as a slave cylinder...one is metal, one is fluid...

i think im just going to build a bracket that will bolt to either my block or bellhousing so that i can bolt a slave cylinder to it. Then just a braided linke from the slave to a master cylinder.

go to supermotors.org. Look up Steve83 and check out his Clutch albums....all exploded view of everything.

BTW 84 is the most popular year for every manual to have Hydro.

I know only the SB stuff works together, IE bellhousing for a 289,302,351W, 300 all will work with eachother.

The 400, 351M i can't remem, but it might be the 460 pattern like mentioned
