I got my engine and tranny.

Project is to stuff a 6.0L and 4L60 into 1992 YJ.

But now i have to figure out how to connect the electrical together.

The 6.0L originally had a 4L80E but cause of lenth i was advised to switch to 4L60E. The connectors are different between these.

I have seen an electrical adapter going from 4L60E to 4L80E but not the other way around.

Some have recomended Wait4Me Performance for reworking harness.

I spoke with them and it sounds good. They will program computer for the 4L60E and rework the harness for my YJ for cheap but he said he does not have time to rework the trans wiring part. I offered to pay more but guess they are too busy for custom stuff.

Any suggestions. I like their prices and probably will use them but what do i do about the trans wiring.

Just completed a 5.3L/4L60E install in my '01 TJ and reworked the OEM engine harness myself. It's not as big of a job as you might think. Took me about a day and a half to do mine. For the tranny, you can probably just buy the connector pigtail and the wiring diagrams are out there for converting one to another. I may even have them somewhere on this computer.

What are you using for a TC?

the stock, NP231 :(

I was looking at the dana 300's some run about 300 used on ebay not bad.
but then I would have to flip it and so forth.

Some recommended the NP241, some guy even said it would bolt into the strock 4l60e 4x4 adapter? any how I already ordered the Novak adapter for the 231, guess i will see how it goes.

let me know if you have any suggestions on this as well

I'm in the process of doing the exact same thing. I'm about half way through my harness modification. I've got all the wires cut out that I don't need, and labeled all the rest. All of the following info is from what I could find from searching the net for hours. I'm not 100% sure it's all correct, but hopefully I'll have it running in about 2 weeks to let you know for sure. I just got my PCM back from wait4meperformance today. Very fast turn around, shipped it UPS 9 days ago, got it in the mail today!

As for the transmission differences, I believe the main difference is the large round grey connector. The connector is the same, but 3 of the wires need to be changed, pin S, T, and U. You can see the pins labeled on back of your connector. The 4L80e doesn't use pins T and U. So they will need to be added to your connector or buy a 60e connector & splice it in.

You will have to move pin S (brown wire) to the U location.

Then add a wire to the S location which will go to the PCM Blue connector pin 79.

Finally add a wire to pin T which will go to the the PCM Red connector pin 42.

The large connector on the left side of the case near the shifter are for the neutral safety and gear indicator. I don't think you will even need that sensor or wires unless you are using it for a neutral safety switch.

The other difference is that the 80e uses an input speed sensor, and the 60e does not. It is a small 2 wire connector. The wires are red/black, dark blue/white. They can just be eliminated. I am using those two wires for the ones need to be added to the round grey connector. Then I'll just move their pin locations at the PCM so I don't have to add two more wires to the harness.

The connector on the left is from an 80e, on the right a 60e the juck yard gave me. As you can see they are the same but the 60e has 2 more wires. I could add 2 more terminals, but I figured it was easier to cut the 80e connector off & solder the 60e connector back on.

The 4l60e is based on the old TH350 *(turbo 350) 3 speed automatic tranny, while the 4l80e is based on the old TH400 (turbo 400) 3 speed auto tranny. The new 4l60 and 80e have an overdrive, being the main difference from the old one.

4l60 e means 4 speed longitudally positioned 6000 pounds GVW Electronically controlled

4l80 e means the same thing except the 80 means 8000 pounds GVW.

BTW, I also do GM tuning, so can help out you fellow conversion guys if needed. Only charge what I have to pay to add licences to to my cable - which is $100. If you need to flash a completely blank PCM (bought off ebay, etc), it would be double since I have to license the donor BIN file as well. I can do all the typical stuff - delete codes, sensors (A/C, rear O2's, evap), tranny mods, fan settings, PE, idle, cam changes, blah blah blah you name it :)

Correct on the prndl switch, no need. It only moves the indicator on the dash, start in park and neutral, and allows encoder motor driven tcases to go into low range when in neutral. The manifold pressure switch in the trans tells the computer what operating gear. Another thing I notice is the diagram posted of the different connectors is missing a pin. You trans will have a PWM solenoid for modulated lockup and a 3-2 downshift solenoid.
