i dont think it matters, ive been both ways and still found a way to break the toy cases (5.38, 40s, and i broke a stock front, and a HD4.7, as well as twisting the rear driveline slip). anything that weighs over 3500lbs and toy parts dont mix.

but a chromo rear output is a must in any build that will get actually wheeled.

thats what im battling now. blew another rear output up at tsf. so decided to ditch the 4.7 case and go back to 2.28 in the rear to take some of the stress off the outputs in double low. so far its holding up great. but well see.

as for my truck i cut the cage off doing a little differently this go around but just gonna be cautious wheeling for the time being till i have the time to do some more tube. with what i have cut removed ect. i shaved about 600 lbs went from 4850 to about 4200 and some change. ill get some pics up this week or weekend and what i got planned. oh and its dovenosed now too haha

Why not keep what you got? Your build was my inspiration for a 3rd gen ex cab. You started and finished before mine was done, I sure as hell ain't building nothing else for a while.

The sammy body I have is a targa top. Tin tops are too hard to find and cost alot.
