KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore. - Three drivers were cited on criminal mischief charges after they were allegedly caught "mudding" through Spencer Creek, damaging meadows along Oregon's only tributary to the Klamath River.
creekAn Oregon State Police trooper came across the men after two pickups became stuck in the mud and a third vehicle was spotted trying to pull them out. Large ruts had been cut through the meadows along the creek.
A pickup, driven by 18-year-old Colin Stricklan of Klamath Falls, was completely stuck in Spencer Creek when 19-year-old Philip McDonald of Merrill came to assist him and also became stuck. A third vehicle, driven by Aaron Slikker, 22, also of Klamath Falls came to rescue the other two, creating several large ruts and holes in the soil trying to get the other trucks out. Officials say significant damage was done to the area's natural resources.
Stricklan was arrested and lodged in Klamath County Jail for criminal mischief and reckless endangerment. McDonald and Slikker were cited and released for criminal mischief.
A fourth person in the group who was found hiding in the woods was arrested on outstanding warrants out of both Coos and Clackamas counties. Rodney Green of Newberg was arrested and lodged in the Klamath County Jail.
