EDIT 9/12/11:
I started this thread for myself and others who want to run tractor tires on their truck and still drive street. Sadly, many of the responses I got were just plain wrong. I've had my tires for a few months now and I drive almost 100 miles weekly. The ride is very shaky but the tires are great. I've added balancing beads to them and run them at 70mph in short spans and constantly at 60-65mph. They have never heated up even on multi-hour trips, and so far the wear is a little fast but not too bad. Braking and traction is not as good but still not too bad either. I talked to a good tractor guy who really knows his stuff (unlike many of the people who posted on this thread) and he pointed out that since these are "turf" tires that they should do just fine, and they have so far. This is just my experience. Take it for what it's worth. I leave now with a final picture of what the truck looks like today. I'm done with these forums indefinitely. Too many haters and not enough motivation on my part to endure it. I hope you benefit from my experience though. Good luck.
ORIGINAL POST:
Hey guys. New guy here running 21.5x16.1 6-ply firestone turf & field tires in the rear. I love them as they keep me from ever getting stuck and let me run and much better rpm's. However I am well aware that I am driving on the street with a non-dot approved tire. The cops don't seem to care, but I'd really like to hear from some of you experienced guys out there. How fast have you driven on your tractor tires either on the street or trails? I've taken mine up to 60mph with no trouble and heard of others doing the same. I've searched for days and can't hardly find any real information on this. My truck could easily take them up to 90mph if I wanted to. If you don't have any experience with tractor tires please don't comment. Thanks.
PS. I tried signing up for the alaska4x4network but they won't let me view anything. I hear there have great info on tractor tires if there was some way I could view their threads. Here's a picture of my truck for those interested:
